Things got more settled towards the end of Thursday, despite the more unproductive state of affairs in week 2 due to too many changes. We were able to come up with two different story ideas to 'present' to our client for approval. The first story is suggested by Gek Luan and it is about Auton imagining himself to be outside, flying among the clouds where he fights against bad weather. The other one was suggested by me, the storyboards from the last 2 posts. After we brainstormed and made our ideas more concrete, we have our story beats, which Marilyn typed and posted on our facebook group. During the weekend, our client looked through the stories and decided on the second story:
Therefore, with all of that settled, we now have a definite plan of action. For now, I would be required by my team to design the creatures used in the animation, costume designs as well as draft out a revised storyboard by Wednesday.
The above is the different sketches I did of the bug that is gonna appear in the animation as well as a very rough fight scene with the monster. After approval from the client I would then start on the colour scheme of the bug.
The above is the design sketches of the 'dust' monster I had in the storyboard before, I based off the design on a sorta evil genie/snake shake to the monster except for the sixth one, which is obviously based on a bug. Whereas for the face, I chose a very graphic sharp edged face to it.
The above is the various clothing/costume designs for the main character, based on the old west. The client wanted a low cowboy hat for the main character and I guess it looks good? I might draw more since I'm not too satisfied.
Digital storyboard that I speed drew out, the second half of the storyboard I drew in a sketchbook. Which I'm too lazy to clean up and post up.
This is the coloured version of the first cowboy costume I drew. Strangely, even after drawing so many other costumes, I still like this one the best, however the client commented that the silhouette wasn't exactly right and I can't get the character to wear the pants in a 'cool way' in the other poses.
I guess for now, I have to draw more storyboards, and maybe more costume designs since I still don't like the current ones (except the one the client advices against) After the client decides which insect/bug and dust monster he likes, I guess I would start on the colour schemes for them, poses and turnaround? so tired....
Update: The client likes all the designs of all the dust monsters but he likes no.4 and 6. I absolutely hate no.6, probably because it resembles a cockroach. Marilyn, the team leader said she likes 2 and 4, so I'm going to simplify/clean these two concepts now and by tuesday, I'll get the rough storyboard done as well...I really hope we have enough time.
