After not updating this blog, unfortunately, I lost track of time, and so I just tried to go accordingly to the schedule on mel.
And just added the no. of days in, I have no idea if it's accurate or not. Either way, I have been stuck on this particular scene for quite a while.
It should be a rather straight forward scene, a good 'push away' to Derrie's hand because Auton (the yellow one) was frightened at that moment. The body movements of Auton is somewhat finalized, my team mates have nothing to say about that. However, when it comes to Derrie's sudden coming into the frame, the comment was always:
The above clip is at least the twelfth time I have changed it. Three times given to my group to check. The other changes, self edited. But the pickle is always there.
The number of frames cannot change. But he can't just fly in there. But the timing of the hand flip is timed rather well already, I don't think I can go any faster, his arm would look like a torpedo. So you see the dilemma?
In earlier versions of the animation clip, I didn't even have his face shown, which I suppose make it look more like he's flying in. However, after working it out with Gekkie, we basically concluded we have to include his face in though his face will fall at the title safe invisible line. No choice. Since he's head is so big, we had to make it smaller too. The characters just feel strange... and here I am not knowing what to do. I have shown the 6th version of this animation clip to Phil and he was like "yeah...it's fine, he's supposed to fly in, how else, would he come into the shot?" How else , indeed...My team had rejected that though, when it comes to decision making, they rule supreme.

With no visible solution I moved on the next scene that I have not done yet, a scene of Auton blowing smoke from the gun, a classic western trope. In the below image, you see the screenshot of the animatic we had drawn
And the next you see is...the rig implemented.
Yup the arm's too short....I'm just gonna place the gun on its own, and cheat it off like that.
